Is Colonial Bible Church affiliated with a denomination?

No, we are not affiliated with any particular denomination. However, if you were looking for a way to identify us, we would be most closely associated with historic Baptist beliefs and practices as found in our confession of faith, The Second London Baptist Confession of 1689.

What is your worship service like?

In planning our worship services there are two guiding principles that inform our practice: faithfulness and reverence. We adhere to those things in our worship that are commanded by the Scriptures (known historically as the Regulative Principle of Worship), and we strive to do those things in a way that communicates our reverence and love for a holy God. Our desire is to communicate clearly the glory of God and His transcendent nature.

What version of the Bible do you use?

We use the New American Standard Bible (NASB 1995) from the pulpit to read and preach from. If you surveyed the congregation at any one time however, you would probably find a variety of different translations being used.

How do people dress?

We don’t have a specific dress code. We simply encourage people to employ modesty and reverence in their dress. At any Sunday worship service, you will see a variety of dress styles from the pastor in a suit and tie, to business casual, to boots and jeans.

What about my children?

We believe that families should worship together as much as possible. Therefore, we encourage parents to begin training their children as early as possible to sit in the worship service and begin participating with them. It is amazing how young children begin to absorb spiritual truths! We do however understand the challenge this can present, so we offer an excellent nursery for ages newborn-toddler, and toddler-3 years old. We also have a cry room with audio and visual access to the service so that parents can start in the sanctuary and move to a more relaxed environment as their children are transitioning into the worship service if the need arises.

Is your facility handicap accessible?

Yes! Our facility is accessible to those with physical needs. We have designated parking in front of the main entrance and plenty of space to accommodate those in wheelchairs or walkers.

How do you become a member of Colonial Bible Church?

Colonial Bible Church’s membership is constituted according to Scripture, consisting of those who are saved by faith in Christ’s work on the cross for their sins, baptized by immersion upon profession of their faith, and desiring to live an obedient life to Christ with the community of believers that gathers here. The process for membership begins with attending one of our New Member classes where you will learn more about the church. In the second step we ask that you fill out a membership application that will allow us to get to know more about you, including a written testimony of how you came to faith in Christ. The third step is a meeting with the elders that will allow you to share your testimony with them and for any follow-up questions to be asked. After these steps are completed we will recognize you publicly on the last Sunday of the month as you commit to the membership vows of the church, and the church responds with vows to the new members.
