Frequently Asked Questions

Is Colonial Bible Church affiliated with a denomination?

No, we are not affiliated with any particular denomination. However, if you were looking for a way to identify us, we would be most closely associated with historic Baptist beliefs and practices.

What is your worship service like?

Our worship service could best be described as conservative in both substance and style. We adhere to those things in our worship that are prescribed by the Scripture, and we want to do those things in a way that communicates our reverence for a holy God.

What version of the Bible do you use?

We use the New American Standard Bible from the pulpit to read and preach from. If you surveyed the congregation at any one time however, you would probably find a variety of different translations.

How do people dress?

We don’t have a specific dress code. We simply encourage people to employ modesty and reverence in their dress. At any Sunday worship service you will see a variety of dress styles from the pastor in a suit and tie to business casual, to boots and jeans.

What about my children?

We believe that families should worship together as much as possible. Therefore we encourage parents to begin training their children as early as possible to sit in the worship service and begin participating. It’s amazing how young children begin to absorb spiritual truths! We do however understand the challenge this can present, so we offer an excellent nursery for ages newborn-toddler, and toddler-3 years old. We also have a cry room with audio and visual access to the service so that parents can start in the sanctuary and move to a more relaxed environment as their children are transitioning into the worship service if the need arises.

Is your facility handicap accessible?

Yes! Our facility is very accessible to those with special needs. We have designated parking right in front of the main entrance and plenty of space to accommodate those in wheelchairs or walkers.

How do you become a member of Colonial Bible Church?

Colonial Bible Church’s membership is constituted Biblically of people who are saved by faith in Christ’s work on the cross for them, baptized by immersion, and desiring to live an obedient life to Christ with the community of believers that gathers here. To help facilitate your learning more about the church, and us getting to know you, we have designed several steps to help the process along. First, we ask for you to fill out a Membership Application with basic information about you and your profession of faith, second we ask that you participate in one of our new members classes, and last we ask that you meet personally with one of our elders to share your personal testimony face to face.

What classes are offered during your Sunday School hour?

Currently we offer four classes at 9:30 a.m. for the purpose of Christian education. These include a beginner class (ages 2-3), an intermediate class (ages 4-5), an elementary class (beginning at age 6), and sanctuary class for everyone else.

Do you have other times of Bible study?

Yes, we have several other opportunities for Bible study in our calendar. We have monthly men’s and women’s Bible studies focused on the specific challenges men and women face to strengthen them in their callings to be godly men and women. We also have a weekly mid-week Bible study on Wednesday from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

How often do you observe communion?

We observe communion on the last Sunday of every month as part of the worship service.
